Inspiration- The Garden- Saskia M Photography

There has fallen a splendid tear
From the passion-flower at the gate.
She is coming, my dove, my dear;
She is coming, my life, my fate;
The red rose cries, “She is near, she is near;”
And the white rose weeps, “She is late;”
The larkspur listens, “I hear; I hear;”
And the lily whispers, “I wait.”
Tennyson—Maud. Pt. XXII. St. 10.

Curiouser and Curiouser- Saskia M Photography- Family and Child Photography

I am so excited to post these new photos.  I am totally in love with them. I was lucky enough to get to spend some time recently with one of my favorite families and got to do a mini photo shoot with little Miss I.  She is a bundle of energy and really a sweetheart. We ended up at a park that had this amazing tree trunk that she climbed into.  The whole shoot ended up having an Alice in Wonderland feel to it, which happened to be one of my favorite books when I was little.  Hope you enjoy them as much as I do.

If I had a world of my own…

…everything would be nonsense.

Nothing would be what it is…

because everything would be what it isn’t.

And contrary wise, what is, it wouldn’t be.

Inspiration- Washington- Saskia M Photography

Its been a while since I blogged. The holidays are always so crazy, I think I have finally just recovered from all the busyness. I thought I would start off with a new type of  blog post- Inspiration. Photography is how I express myself, but my photography is inspired by music, poetry, people, and more.  So, here’s the first one.

I am inspired by… my home.  I did not grow up in Washington State, but I have lived here for the last 6 years.  I love living here.  I love being surrounded by beauty everywhere I go.  I love that I feel like I live in forest, yet have the city so close by.  Here are just a few photos from my recent trips around Western Washington.  Hope you enjoy.

“As we advanced, the country seemed gradually to improve in beauty.  The cleared spots were more numerous and of larger extent; and in the remote lofty mountains covered with snow, reflected greater lustre on the fertile productions of the less elevated country.” -George Vancouver, A Voyage of Discovery, 1792.

March 5, 2010 - 3:20 am matt shumate - That's my home (I'm from Tacoma)! I grew up camping at Alder Lake (we used to sleep on the island in the middle of the lake). I'm In Spokane now, and as much as we love it, western Washington will always be home. Great photos.

March 6, 2010 - 10:16 pm admin - Thanks Dana and Matt. I love that this is my new home.

March 7, 2010 - 9:24 pm Drew - What a beautiful state indeed. I love that third shot down. I love that industrial beauty angle.
